Psychosocial Recovery Coaching and Support Coordination

About me ...

Hi – I’m Kellie, a Psychosocial Recovery Coach and Support Coordinator based in Central West NSW.

I have worked in the mental health space for over fifteen years, in roles from early intervention and prevention, to crisis support and suicide prevention and sub-acute mental health inpatient care. I love my work.

I have a comprehensive understanding of the mental health system, and what it is like for people with mental health issues to both make sense of its complexities and work towards recovery at the same time. For the person themselves, and their loved ones – it is HARD!

I also have lived experience of neurodiversity, as an individual and a parent.  Living with a brain that works differently in a world designed around constant productivity and linear achievement can be exhausting, and often distressing for individuals and their loved ones.

Having an NDIS plan can open the door to freedom of choice, control and a life that you love. It can also be confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to understand. I can help, by combining my knowledge of the system with your hopes, goals and way of “doing life”.

What I do

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching

Active, face-to-face, recovery-focused support for people with a Psychosocial Disability. You will learn how to take control of your NDIS plan to set recovery goals that lead to living the kind of life you want. We work together regularly on reaching those goals together, by developing and building your strengths and planning for ups and downs along the way.

Support Coordination

Assistance to help you learn about how your NDIS plan works, and how to use it to reach your goals. Ongoing support to connect you with NDIS services and providers, as well as community, mainstream and government services. As your Support Coordinator, I will help to build your confidence, knowledge and skills to be able to manage your own NDIS plan in the future. If I do my job well, eventually you won't need me any more!

NDIS Navigation Sessions

Sometimes, you might have an NDIS Plan, but no funding to help you make sense of it. I offer short, focused sessions to help participants, their family and carers to build skills in understanding their NDIS plan, use it most effectively to reach goals, or prepare for a plan review or reassessment.

FAQs

What kind of NDIS funding do I need to work with you?

Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching are both funded as Capacity Building items. They will be listed specifically on your NDIS plan if you have funding for them. Feel free to get in touch and ask me if you aren’t sure whether you have funding or not.

Focused NDIS Navigation sessions come out of Core funding.

Your NDIS plan will need to be either Plan Managed or Self Managed for me to be able to work with you.

How long does Psychosocial Recovery Coaching go for?

Psychosocial Recovery Coaching and Support Coordination is funded for the life of your current NDIS plan. When we look at your plan, we will see how you want to use your funding across the year (so that you don’t use it all up and run out before your plan ends) and so that you have enough for me to write reports at plan review time. Usually, we would agree to see each other regularly throughout your plan, in the way it works for you.

That said, you are the one with choice and control over your NDIS Plan, so you can decide at any time that you don’t want any more Psychosocial Recovery Coaching or Support Coordination, or you can choose to move to another provider.

Are you a Registered NDIS provider?

No, I am not a Registered NDIS Provider. This is simply because my business is too small for that to be cost-effective.

Just like registered providers, I have a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, full comprehensive insurances, detailed policies and procedures, and I undergo regular professional training to keep up to date.

If you are Agency Managed and you would like to work with me, you can ask the NDIS to change your Support Coordination/Psychosocial Recovery Coaching funding to Plan Managed. This will allow you to use unregistered providers, which provides you with a lot more choice – particularly if you are in a regional area, where communities are smaller and there often aren’t very many registered providers to choose from.
